What have I been making?

These past couple of years, I’ve spent my time quietly making a few things go at Anthropic: its media production infrastructure — a studio, systems, tools behind the company’s public-facing work. A run-of-show app people like using. An automation tool that took event coordination from four hours a day to half an hour twice a week. And a storage system so the Brand Creative editors could stop working off scattered drives.

For the last eight years, I’ve been making work of my own: Slant, an 8’ x 8’ permanent thread installation for Skylyne at Temescal, commissioned by BXP. Deep Listening, a sound and color installation proposed for Treasure Island’s Cityside Park through the San Francisco Arts Commission — I taught myself SketchUp to draw it. Black Brilliance and Shine Black, two temporary installations for Oakland First Fridays and Lake Merritt, respectively.

I’d like them to be one job.

Videos that make complicated concepts click. Podcast episodes people send to someone else. The colors, typography, and materials that pull people in before they hit play. Things you have to be in the room for, that won’t be there next year. Stories. Polish. Awe.
