If you ask ten Creative Technologists what they do, you’ll get ten different answers. The point of the title isn’t in the specific skillset but in the ability to blend a diverse set of creative and technical skills into a unique workflow. It’s a fluid role that can take the shape of whatever container is holding it.

My flavor of Creative Technologist is a combo of audio engineering, visual art, music, AV, media, design, and agentic coding.

These past couple of years, I’ve spent my time quietly making a few things go at Anthropic: its media production infrastructure — a studio, systems, tools behind the company’s public-facing work. A run-of-show app people like using. An automation tool that took event coordination from four hours a day to half an hour twice a week. A storage system so the Brand Creative editors could stop working off scattered drives. I even designed company merch.

For the last eight years, I’ve also been making work of my own. Jamienpride.dev, my website for rapid prototyping. Slant, an 8’ x 8’ permanent thread installation for Skylyne at Temescal, commissioned by BXP. Deep Listening, a sound and color installation proposed for Treasure Island’s Cityside Park through the San Francisco Arts Commission. Black Brilliance and Shine Black, two temporary installations for Oakland First Fridays and Lake Merritt, respectively. Most recently, I designed this portfolio.

After building teams and infrastructure at Google and Anthropic, I’ve realized two things: I have a knack for it and it’s fun for me. I have an unconventional perspective and the ability to make things happen in warp-speed environments. Using those skills to drive more impactful decisions is what excites me the most.

Because I’m a creator first, I also want to make things with what I can build. Videos that make complicated concepts click. Podcast episodes people send to someone else. The colors, typography, and materials that pull people in before they hit play. Things you have to be in the room for, that won’t be there next year. Stories. Polish. Awe.
